Walthamstow is a diverse community, where people from all over the world live together. It’s is a vibrant place to live with so much to do and a real sense of community.

The famous Walthamstow market, which began in 1885, is still going strong five days a week. It’s lined with shops from independent and big chains – and it’s a great focal point for the community.

Walthamstow is also a major centre in London's grime music scene. Whatever your interests there’s loads to do in Walthamstow. If you’re a culture fan you’ll enjoy the William Morris and Vestry museums. There are also lots of small, characterful places to go for a drink or a bite to eat. And if you love green spaces, explore Lloyd Park, one of the capital’s most beautiful open spaces.

Meet Hinnah, our Walthamstow Network Manager...

I’m Hinnah, I’m new to the Borough and I joined the Connecting Communities team in May 2019. I Have spent my career in health and social care, mainly in the community, setting up services to improve residents health and wellbeing. I previously worked to set up a Social Prescribing Care Navigation service in partnership with GP surgeries and hospital settings, supporting the Alzheimer’s Society and improving quality of life for those who have dementia by enabling them to be active in their community.

It is my goal to use my position as Network Manager for Walthamstow to provide a platform for the local community to come together and create community cohesion, empowerment and to strengthen the ties that bind this already vibrant, energetic Borough.
